There were big happenings at the Fiely house this past weekend. Our sweet girl, our fourth baby, had her FIRST birthday! Man that year went fast! Read all about the fun pink & gold first birthday party we threw for our Vayda Mae!
First Birthday Party
I often wonder why we celebrate first birthdays like the greatest of all birthdays. Are we celebrating the survival of the first year? All those sleepless nights? Shouldn’t every year be a bigger deal? We survived another one? Ha, who knows!
Pink & Gold Birthday Theme
Little Vayda partied in style none the less! Pink and gold was her theme with some Twinkle Twinkle Little Star mixed in. Nothing too fancy or costly. Just a small gathering of family and friends, in our back yard, in the beautiful, April sunshine we were so blessed with! (We are still trying to forget the snow from the weekend before! Welcome to Ohio!) I couldn’t help but jump on the bandwagon and purchase the sweetest little outfit for Vayda! I found this one on Etsy and it matched our theme perfectly!

Party Decorations
The biggest extent to the décor was the sweet little dessert table I put together the morning of her party. I knew I wanted to display all of her monthly photos so everyone could see how much she grew! (Even though she is the only one of the four we did this with! It wasn’t a ‘thing’ when the other three were born.) I also gathered some other small things from around the house and I had some things that I picked up from a local party store. Finally, a quick, hand-drawn chalk board and viola!
Homemade Birthday Cake
Home made cake and homemade (well, almost…I may have bought premade dough!) cookies, specially decorated by proud big sister Marlee! I also added a small dish of candies to top it off!
The hubs manned the grill for supper for some delicious burgers and dogs. Then we opened gifts and enjoyed the cake! Little miss Vayda was so polite with her cake! No dramatic cake face plant or anything!
A Sweet Celebration
We finished the night gathered around our fire ring on the patio…our most favorite spot all summer long! It was the perfect day to celebrate our sweet little girl. We couldn’t be more blessed!
