Catholic Saints for Fathers
St. Joseph
St. Joseph is the most common saint when we think of fatherhood. He is the patron saint of fathers and is the foster father of our savior Jesus! St. Joseph quietly and humbly took care of his family by working hard and keeping his family safe. He also followed God’s will and allowed Jesus to be the man he was meant to be. Fathers, ask for St. Joseph to intercede on your behalf!

St. Isidore the Farmer
As his name explains, St. Isidore was a Spanish farmer who worked for the same landowner his whole life. He was known for his willingness and dedication to work hard but always put God first. St. Isidore never missed time for prayer and it is said that when he was late for work because he was attending Mass, angels were seen doing his work for him! He and his wife loved to help the poor and believed that if poverty, hard work and sorrow were aligned with Christ, you could always be happy! St. Isidore is the patron saint for day workers and is the perfect saint for hard working fathers!
Feast Day of St. Isidore the Farmer: May 15th
St. Louis Martin
Another great saint for fathers is St. Louis Martin. He was the husband of St. Zelie Martin and the father to our beloved St. Thérèse! Together, with his wife, they had 9 children, four of them who died at a very young age. Their four daughters lived to grow up and be religious sisters. His wife passed when Thérèse, their youngest, was only 4 and he was left to raise his daughters alone. Despite his heartache, he loved to play with his daughters, making them little toys, making up games and singing to them. Him and his wife always strived to live lives of good virtue to model for their children. St. Louis, pray for us!
Feast Day of Sts. Louis & Zelie Martin: July 12th
St. Thomas More
St. Thomas More looked to become a monk but felt the pull to become a father. As a result, he married and had four children, three daughters and a son. His wife died in childbirth and he later remarried. Through his trials, St. Thomas More made it a point to make sure his children were well educated. Because of his unwillingness to back down from his faith, he was imprisoned but he continued to right to his children. St. Thomas More, pray for us!
Feast Day of St. Thomas More: June 22nd
St. Pope John Paul II
Although he never had children of his own, JPII was nevertheless a father to us all! He was a tremendous advocate for marriage, for families and for children. JPII had a special relationship with children and young people and he made it a priority to spend time with them. He always felt it was important that they felt heard. During his papacy, he taught so much about human relationships, Theology of the Body, and the family as a whole. JPII, pray for us!

St. Maximilian Kolbe
Another great saint for fathers to look up to, although he was never a father himself, is St. Maximilian Kolbe. This saint was a wonderful man with a great devotion to Our Lady and Our Lord. During WWII he was imprisoned in a concentration camp. Because of his strong faith, St. Maximilian Kolbe didn’t hesitate to take the place of a young father who was sentenced to starve to death. The Lord was with Kolbe and he miraculously lived through 12 days of starvation before they had to execute him. What devotion to God! St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us!
Feast Day of St. Maximilian Kolbe: August 14th
St. Jerome Emiliani
This is a new saint to me but from what I have learned about him, he is a wonderful saint for fathers! St. Jerome Emiliani had a special devotion to orphaned children. As a result, he became the patron saint for adopted children. He used his own money and resources to help all of the children in need and spent his entire life devoted to orphans. St. Jerome Emiliani, pray for us!
Feast Day of St. Jerome Emiliani: February 8th
