I feel like this is a constant struggle for me as a mother. In general, the Fiely’s avoid doctors. (To each is their own, but we feel the more you get over things yourself without meds, the more you can fight off!) But when your 1 year old is slowing down and showing signs of distress, you have to ask yourself…do I call the doctor? Please just tell me, tiny toddler who can’t talk, are

These past couple of weeks have been long and for some reason I have sort of been living in a fog. The day to day was normal but for some reason I have been down. And the worst part was nothing really stands out as to why I am feeling this way. I think it is a combination of a lot of things. The weather around here has been dreary lately, work has been tedious,

Man tonight was a reminder of the struggles we had with Milo in school. He is so smart but he really struggles at reading! He is so different from Marlee. She took to reading right away and still really enjoys it. Not Milo. Not. At. All. He just finished up first grade and he finished on a high note. He isn’t behind in his class but he has a long way to improve. He struggles

To say this past week was fun is an understatement! This past week was a total blast! Our small, historical town had much reason to celebrate this week. This year is our 225th anniversary! 225 years our little village has been on the map! We also had our 2016 Jubilee celebration that lasted all weekend. So fun! The festivities started last Sunday with an opening ceremony and the first showing of our town drama. This is

I am always looking for fun and personal gift ideas for Father’s Day! I love when the kids can get involved, especially the younger ones! Most of the time for Father’s Day we just try to pamper our guy as much as we can to make him feel special! Homemade gifts, his favorite foods and lots of what Dad loves! To make things a bit easier, I created this fun Father’s Day printable for the

Lately I have found myself surrounded by a lot of negativity and drama. There is drama in my every day life as a working mother but I can’t help but notice the abundance of drama bubbling up lately. Unfortunately sometimes it is hard to avoid it and even though it doesn’t necessarily involve me, I find myself caught up in it somehow. My parents divorced when I was 13 and that was probably the first,

Everyone is so excited about the school year being over! But I can’t decide who is more excited.  The kids all have dreams of lazy mornings, cartoons and pool time all the while Mom and Dad have dreams of easier morning routines, lax bedtimes and no homework! But with this buzz of excitement comes the spark of the frayed nerves and short fuses. The kids are exhausted.  I feel like everything is a huge battle

Last weekend we took the kids on a mini-vacation to Indianapolis and we all had a blast! It was the first time for the kids to stay in a hotel and the first time for all of us at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Our entire trip (the two hour drive included) went really well! We loaded up and left right after school on Friday and drove straight through to Indianapolis…no stops! Chase and Vayda

Today is Mother’s Day. As I woke this morning I got excited, thinking “Yes, today is my day. The day I get to let everyone else do my job!” The kids woke up, one by one and with Erik sleeping like a log next to me (being the least morning person between the two of us) I kind of got excited knowing he would have to be the first to get up. The one to figure

Mondays are dreaded by everyone. It’s that first day back to work. Everyone is back to school. The routine starts over. No more lazy mornings, late breakfasts and lax bedtimes. It’s Monday. The start of a new week. And after your morning rush, backpacks and kids are dropped at school, the baby to the sitter and you are at your desk, working the day away. Then finally its quitting time and you’ve made it! You
