Motherhood is a combination of love and messiness. That is the perfect title for my blog because that is what my day to day life entails. Being a mother is the best thing that has ever happened to me and with each child, my heart has grown even bigger. With that being said, that doesn’t mean its always the best thing. In fact, there are many days where I feel like everything is going wrong and I have no idea what I am doing. Lately I have learned that on days like this, the best place to turn is upward!
One of my goals for 2017 (along with being more organized, among a million other things!) is to actively become closer to God. I have turned more toward faith these lasts few years but I want to really become more active in it. Read the Bible, attend church more regularly, pray more with my husband. Those kind of things. One day I opened Facebook and there it was! The perfect opportunity! Some local girls were putting on a bible study. Normally I wouldn’t have thought twice but something called me to it and on a whim, I signed up!
What was even more perfect than the timing, was the theme. This study was going along with the book Beautiful Mess. This book by Sherry Surratt & Tracey Eyster is all about motherhood. Motherhood in every moment. Everything about that is something I need right now! How can I be a better mother? I want to be the best mother I can be but I also want to learn what that means and how He can help. I am so excited to dig in!
This past Thursday was the first night of the study and we started off by watching the movie Mom’s Night Out. This was a great ‘ice breaker’. A perfect way to meet these awesome ladies, relax (kid free!) and have some laughs! If you haven’t watched this movie, it’s a must see! Check it out here to get it from Amazon right away! Seriously, if someone wrote a movie about my life, this would be it! And what is better is it has a beautiful message. It shines light into just what being Mom should mean.
I am so excited to continue this study, dive into this book and gain some great friendships! I can’t wait to see where this year takes me and my family in faith. I know God had big plans for us! Motherhood is a crazy ride but I feel that watching and raising these beautiful, little people is why He put me here on Earth. I want to take these days one at a time. Life is a journey and I know this path will help me make it the best one!
Have any of you done this study? Or watched this movie? Let me know your thoughts if you have! I would love to hear them!
