Our second son just celebrated his 11th birthday! We keep birthdays simple here by making the child’s favorite meal and dessert! In the past we used to try and take each child on an individual ‘date’ but it got to be a bit too hectic. (Three of our six children have birthdays within 3 weeks of each other…and my husbands is in there too!) So in place of that, I started getting the kids a bunch of gifts to open, instead of just one big one. It makes the day feel so much more special and I love the challenge of surprising them with something they love but hadn’t thought of! Buying for older kids (especially boys!) can be a challenge so I thought I would share with you my birthday gifts for tween boys!
Birthday Gifts for Tween Boys
Basketball
The main gift we got Chase this year was a new basketball. Our boys (ages 12 & 11) love to play basketball in our backyard so our basketballs get pretty worn. He actually asked for this gift after I already purchased it! (Mom-Win!) I chose the Spalding NBA Street Basketball so it would hold up well outside.
Backpack
Our son is heading to Catholic Youth Summer Camp this summer for the first time so I knew one of his gifts was going to be a nice, lightweight backpack for hiking! Since we are always watching our spending, I like to fill out this gifts with some practical items as well. We ordered the Venture Pal 40L Lightweight Travel Backpack because we got this same backpack for our daughter when she first went to CYSC and she loved it!
Flying Disc
I am so happy to say that our children still love and prefer to play outside over inside! To take advantage of this I wanted to get him another fun, outside toy. Our boys had a flying disc awhile back, free from a parade but it has since broken. This NERF Sports Dud Perfect Flying Disc was perfect (no pun intended…by boys also love Dude Perfect!). It was a hit!
Graphic Tee
My son requested a fun, Christian graphic tee for his birthday so I of course obliged! I got my husband this same shirt for Christmas and I knew Chase would love having the same one. We love St. Michael here and love a good sense of humor! We found this St. Michael shirt by ThatOneSheep at SockReligious.com
Goody Bag
Last, but not least, I always love to give the big kids a ‘goody bag’. This consists of their favorite candy treats and favorite drink. There is just something special about having your own treats when you are one of many siblings!
Other Gifts Ideas for Tween Boys
These are the 5 gifts I decided on that Chase would like most this year but I had quite a few other ideas in mind! Since every boy is a bit different, I wanted to share my list of other ideas you could use for a great tween boy gift:
- Blitz Ball
- Waboba Nasa Moon Bouncing Ball
- Under Armour Men’s Locker Slides
- 50 Strong Sports Squeeze Water Bottle
- Star Wars The Mandalorian Poster
Gift-Giving
Thinking of gifts for tween boys isn’t easy but Chase was so happy with his! I am a huge fan of gift giving and I love the thrill of thinking, searching and planning the best gifts, especially ones they don’t expect. My kids have all told me they love getting surprise gifts like that…as opposed to always getting exactly what they ask. As a mother, this is one of the areas I thrive!
