Easy DIY Cinnamon Ornaments - Love & Messiness

We added a new craft to our holiday fun this year and made some yummy smelling ornaments for our Christmas tree! These easy DIY Cinnamon Ornaments are a perfect holiday craft and make great gifts as well!

If you are looking for something to fill your day before all the Christmas activities, this is it! And you will love each time you walk past the Christmas tree you get the yummy smell of cinnamon!

DIY CINNAMON ORNAMENTS

You will need:

Ingredients

4 1/2 cups plain applesauce
18 oz. ground cinnamon
8 1/2 tablespoons white school glue (or approximately one large bottle)

Supplies

Large mixing bowl
A large spoon or spatula
Rolling pin and cookie cutters
Parchment paper
Paint brushes or paper straws

Directions

This recipe makes about 30 ornaments and can be easily decreased or increased.

Combine all three ingredients in a large bowl, mixing slowly. Continue until your mixture is a doughy substance.

Next grab your favorite holiday cookie cutters and a rolling pin and have fun! We rolled ours out on wax paper (although to do it again, I would just use parchment paper!) and let the kids cut out the fun shapes.

We added details with the ends of paintbrushes. We used a combination of paper straws and paint brushes to poke holes in the tops so we could add string later on.

Once the shapes are finished, lay them out on parchment paper covered cookie sheet. You can let the ornaments air dry but I found it took a really long time for them to harden. I recommend baking them in the over at 200 degrees for 3-4 hours.
