Our family tradition for the eve of the Feast of St. Nicholas (December 6) is we have our children write up their Christmas list to leave in their stocking for St. Nicholas to take with him when he comes through the night. This is the activity for the December 5th Advent calendar card and this year I created this free St. Nicholas letter printable that they can fill out to make it easier and fun for them. Check it out!
St. Nicholas Letter Printable
Unlike most letters to Santa, this one is directed to St. Nicholas himself. It asks St. Nick to pray for them and their family and to thank God for their blessings. There is a space them to include up to five things they are thankful to God for.
Next is says how the child is trying their best to be good and always asks for forgiveness when they aren’t. (Because we all know that no one is good all the time!) Below that is space for the child to list up to 5 things they would really love and appreciate to receive this Christmas. The letter has a simple, heartfelt closing and a space for the child to sign their name.
This St. Nicholas letter template allows for the child to think and reflect on the year and to be grateful for the blessings they’ve received. It also aids in the thought of St. Nicholas as a real person who is in heaven with God and not just a cartoon character.
Another advantage to this letter are the limited lines in the wish list section. This allows the children to think deep about what they truly want instead of including an endless list of unrealistic wants.
