I am due very soon for our sixth sweet baby and finally got around to gathering up and packing our hospital bag! Our essentials and needs have changed over the course of the years and I consider this hospital bag pretty minimal! Below are all the details on our hospital bag checklist for labor and delivery of baby number six!

Our Hospital Bag for Baby #6
Below in no particular order is a list of the items that we have packed and ready for baby to arrive! There are details on what we packed for my husband, for me and for baby! Links are included for some of the products as well!
FOR MOM
Pajamas
One item I am always sure to pack are comfy and nursing-friendly pajamas. In the past, I have just worn a hospital gown the entire time but sometimes it feels nice to have something a bit more soft and cozy! For this delivery I packed two new items:
- Stars Above button down pajamas that is short sleeves and shorts from Target. Easy to nurse and cool for late August!
- My Dwell & Slumber house dress. It’s big and flowy, has great length and coverage and has snaps at the top for easy nursing. Plus it feels like butter!
Toiletries
I have a small toiletry bag packed that I will probably finish and throw together last minute, since we are still using some of the items. But I have it out on our counter so worst case scenario, my hubby can toss it together and into our bag! Here’s what I have included:
- Toothbrushes & travel size toothpaste: Don’t forget Dad’s too!
- Dry shampoo: For feeling fresh without struggling to wash your hair!
- A good, sudsy body wash: Because that first shower feels so good!
- Deodorant: I love this natural kind, especially when breastfeeding!
- Hair brush & extra ties: For during and after labor
- Earth Mama’s Perineal Spray: New to my bag this time, I am excited for something natural to help sooth discomfort!
- Always Extra Long Super Maxi Pads: These are nice for wearing home!
- Always Discreet Boutique Incontinence & Postpartum Underwear: I have never tried these but I am excited for the comfort & security!
- Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads: My milk has come in earlier with each pregnancy so these help with leaks!
- Prenatal Vitamins: I have a great routine with mine so I sure to have them along!
Going Home Clothes
I like to pack a few options for clothes to wear home for me. You just never know how you will feel! This time around I packed a comfy sweater, my new St. Zelie t-shirt from Brick House in the City, leggings and a nursing tank top. I plan to just wear my Dwell & Slumber dress home if it’s too warm! A good nursing bra is a must as well–this one‘s my favorite!
FOR DAD
With having other kids at home, we never know what my husband’s stay will look like but I like to be prepared! I have a pair of gym shorts, pajamas, sweatpants and a spare t-shirt packed for him! Our hospital bag checklist always includes an extra phone charger, snacks and our phone/camera stand for him as well.
FOR BABY
We don’t know the gender of our baby (and never knew with any of ours!) so we like to pack something neutral. This time around, I just packed the two new swaddles I got: the Our Lady of La Leche swaddle from Be A Heart designs and the Natural Muslin Swaddle from Mushie. I also packed a white onesie and a neutral baby gown for them to wear underneath. If the baby’s a girl, I purchased this sweet little rainbow bow headband from Ribbon, Grace & Lace.
OTHER NECESSITIES
Snacks & Vending Money
We always pack along good, healthy snacks to have. If we are in labor for awhile I like to know my husband can grab something without having to leave! The snacks also come in handy for after labor too (breastfeeding makes you hungry!) and coins for the vending machines are always a must!
The Love Crunch granola & Zbars I always order from Thrive Market. Click here to learn more & to save 25% off your first order!
Spiritual Items
Some of the spiritual items I am sure to bring along are a rosary, my Labor of Love prayer book with prayers to Mary for delivery and blessings for a new baby, and holy water. I would love to put together a list of affirmations and scripture cards but I haven’t yet. Oh, and I may throw in my husbands rosary too so we can pray together!
