Lately, I’ve found myself longing for a deeper, more consistent and meaningful prayer life. It felt impossible with the hours available in the day and I found myself at the end of the day, disappointed that I hadn’t prayed like I’d hoped.
Improving Personal Prayer
Our gracious Lord understands our struggles. He sees us trying, He knows our hearts and desires and I believe he is content in knowing our intentions.
But I don’t want to be content. I want to be full of faith and fire. So I prayed for help, guidance and direction, I brought my desires to the Lord and he showed me the way. He showed me His Mother. My Mother.
Turn to Mary
I feel ashamed to admit that I hadn’t turned to Mary. I pray my consecration to her everyday (see below the prayer I use) and somehow I was still overlooking her.
That was my final sign to dive into my interior life and model it after Mary. Who better to gently guide me to Jesus than His own mother.
So I took some action, like only we can when it comes to changing our lives:

Steps to Improving My Personal Prayer Life
🤎 I shoved aside my pride and vanity and took up the scapular, something that has been on my heart for a long time
🤎 I added to my morning prayers
🤎 I began praying the Little Office regularly and more often through the day, tacking it on to routine things throughout the day
🤎 I committed to try to attend more daily mass
🤎 I gave myself grace and try not to get down on myself for my failures
🤎 I end each day asking for His forgiveness and for Him to make me new again the next day.
We are called to a wonderful life in this world, no matter how small and simple our lives are. I am now seeing how powerful a simple prayer life can be.
