Recently got the idea to create a small space for our younger children to pray throughout the day. They needed a comfortable space to just be with the Lord. So with that in mind, gathered a few things from around our home & created a kid’s prayer corner! Our playroom prayer corner turned out just perfect and our little ones love it!
Playroom Prayer Corner for Kids
When imaging this space for my children, I envisioned it right in the middle of ‘life’. Our home altar is out in the open and in the center of our home. It serves as a constant reminder of Christ and I wanted this kid-friendly prayer space to be the same. And what better space they where we spend most of our days, in the playroom!
What’s in our Playroom Prayer Corner
Before starting, I decided to include sacred images, a space for their rosaries and a small space for their books. Next, I gathered up those things that we already had around the home. To organize, I found these sweet little shelves at Target and they were my only purchase for the space! (I got them both for $10!)
To keep things budget-friendly (and toddler-friendly) I printed off images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary from images found online on my simple home printer. The saint pictures are the same, only I added the names typed below each one. (Hoping for a laminator one day!)
Next, I hung our ‘Seek First His Kingdom’ banner and I love the texture it adds to the corner!
On the peg shelf I have their Shining Light dolls and below hangs their rosaries and prayer card ring.
Finally in the bookshelves are all of the small simple prayer books, catechism books and saint books we have.
For seating, I added a comfy chair. (This chair is obviously well loved and one we’ve had for awhile!) As you can see from our pictures the boys just love it!

Invite prayer into your playspace
Inviting prayer into your home doesn’t have to be a large or daunting task. Keep things simple, work with what you have and most importantly, don’t hesitate to do it! It may not seem like much but I promise those sacred images and the inviting feeling will stick with your children.
