I am always trying to find different ways to show the kids how important it is to be grateful. There are so many children in the world today who don’t think to be thankful for the things in their lives. I feel that as parents, it is our job to help them understand this concept.
We always incorporate thank you’s into our prayers and every once in a while I will bring the topic up at dinner or during a car ride. It is kind of fun to see their minds work at the concept!
Each year, when November comes around I think it is really important to teach the reason for the Thanksgiving holiday. There are so many reasons for every one of us to be grateful for our lives and the people and things in them!
This year I thought of all of those people who try the 30 day of thanks on Facebook. Why not make this a fun activity for the kids?! I thought that each day we could take turns listing something different we were thankful for!
I had an extra poster paper available so I made up a fun little poster to display! This way each day we can take turns writing our things on the board. Then each day we can reflect on what we are all thankful for. And this also gives the chance for the kids to be proud of their own thoughts and ideas.
I can’t wait to see how this poster fills as the days of the month pass by. And I can’t wait to share it with family and friends as they gather over the coming days and the holidays. I really love making the kids think with activities like this and I also love to start new traditions!
What are the different ways that you help your kids to be grateful?
