It’s back too school and along with that comes homework! Each year our kids have brought home two sets of flash cards and are asked to practice them each night. While this is great for them and super easy, I always battle with these cards! They are always such a mess and we can’t find the whole set and if you do, you fumble around with the whole deck trying the run through them with the kids.
The other day I was browsing the internet and came across this awesome idea!Someone has shown a different set of cards held together with a ring. That’s it! Wrangle those flash cards all together with a ring! This may be old news but to me, it was golden! This way, each set is always together and easy to use…even when the kids need to study on their own!
This weekend I gathered my supplies and went to work to organize these babies! With the hubby’s help it only took us a minute to assemble one of the sets. We haven’t gotten them all finished yet (hello life!) but I plan to do them all! Below is the simple how to on putting together your own set!
The supplies you will need are:
A deck of flash cards
Loose leaf binder rings
Power drill or hole punch
First, gather up all of your flash cards or, if you don’t have them yet, head to the dollar rack at Target or any school supply section and buy some up! They are super inexpensive and are super helpful for the kids!
Next, if you don’t have a fresh deck, make sure the stack is nice and clean and everything is facing the right directions. The ones they provide from school have a rounded corner so it’s really easy to tell when they are all in place!
To begin assembly, you will take the drill (this is where my hubby stepped in for the assist) and drill a hole through one corner of the entire stack. This made the processes super quick and simple but if you don’t have access to this, you could easily hole punch the corner of each card as well!
Finally, run the binder ring (I used 2″ for our stack and it worked perfect!) through the hole and close. Viola! Your perfect handy little flash card deck!
I am always so excited when I learn things to make our homework nights a lot easier! Do you guys have any tips or tricks like this? If so, please share!!
